“He who calls you is faithful; he will surely do it.” (1 Thes. 5:24 ESV) Recently I was asked to share what God has been teaching me as of late and I quickly replied with three words – GOD IS FAITHFUL. There is nothing earth-shattering about this, is there? No. It’s a truth about God [...]

I [heart] Prague! A LOT! Actually a butt load, to be exact! One of the things I do often here is go on prayer walks, especially when I’m struggling a bit with staying on mission and getting after things here. So today after I loaded up my new opencard, with a year metro pass, I walked from Václavské námestí to Malostranská and prayed, prayed, prayed… While listening to a little bit of this:

So good… Just thought I would share this with you! Be a revolution today!

g-ma update and more prayer…

Posted By zharrod on October 29th, 2008

This morning I received another voicemail from my mother, updating me on the status of my G-Ma, things haven’t progressed like we all have hoped they would. She is back on bed rest and is very uncomfortable. My mom is trying to decide when she is going back down to Indiana to help with everything going on. My Aunt, mom’s sister, has been there since last week and my uncle has returned, as soon as yesterday, I believe. Please be praying that God would show up in the midst of all of this. That He would comfort my G-Ma, grandfather, and family. Of course, we all long and desire for my g-ma to have full recovery, so please pray for that, but please pray that Christ would be seen in the midst of it all. Pray that we all see him in, even, in the midst of the pain and hurting. I’ll be honest, it has been hard for me. I’m so far away and really can’t do anything from over here, besides pray and praying I’ve done. I love my family, much and life, time zones, and etc. make this tough. I covet your prayers immensely! Thank you!

“Exercising Christian love and mercy and generosity to the poor, orphans and widows, priests, guests and travelers. Truthful in speech, fair in judgment, faithful to all which is entrusted to him, exceeding human limits in goodness. Never depriving anyone of anything through violence or trickery. Believing in God with all his heart, embodying goodness in all his life. Building churches in all castles and gathering God’s servants from abroad, introducing God’s worship as is customary in great nations. Spreading Christ’s message through good example, not by force.” -From a legend about King Wenceslas (Václav), as quoted from Czechs and Balances: a nation’s survival kit

I’m working on a talk/training/resourcing time we are doing for our STINTers/Volunteer next week, tentatively entitled “Cultural Landmarks and ‘Avenues’ to the Heart of Czechs“, and I found this quote in one of my favorite commentaries about Czech history, legends, and life. It is an amazing quote! Especially, when you consider that King Wenceslas is a major Czech hero and considered the patron saint of the Czech lands, come on the biggest square in the city is Václavské námestí (Wenceslas Square). So as I read and reread the quote on the tram home, I prayed that God would raise up Czechs in the same vain as this quote. Would you join me in praying for this? How beautiful of a picture does this quote paint? Well, imagine the Lord painting a much more brilliant picture if there were Czechs living this out boldly today! I love the church-plant hint that is in the quote too – “Building churches in all castles”! I guess, we aren’t building them in castles anymore, but it’s still there! May God increase His worship in this great nation! Thanks for stopping by, I’m off to bed!

please pray for my g-ma!

Posted By zharrod on October 23rd, 2008

my g-ma is a die-hard chicago fan (1)

I sent this out in email form, but I wanted to add this too my blog too. Above is a pic of me and my G-Ma, she pretty much rocks this hizzy and she is a passionate Chicago sports fan, which is fun. So I don’t do things like this often, but I really would love for you to help me out on this one. My grandma has been in the hospital for a day or so because she is having some “digestive issues” they were hoping it would pass, but it hasn’t passed. So they are first going in orthoscopically and then if they can’t fix it that way they have to go in for real. Please pray for her and the physicians. My mother who is a health care professional has left work and is currently driving down (my aunt is also going as well) to Warsaw, IN to be with my grandfather while my grandmother is in surgery, and then will be there for post-op. Our family has been very spoiled when it comes to the health of my grandparents (Bob and Louise). They are in tremendous shape for their age. So needless to say, this is a new thing for all of us. Please pray that God would show up in the process and she would come out fine, but more than anything pray that God would use this for bigger things with my family. I’m praying 2 Corinthians 1:3-7 for my grandma, grandfather and family:

3 Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of mercies and God of all comfort, 4 who comforts us in all our affliction, so that we may be able to comfort those who are in any affliction, with the comfort with which we ourselves are comforted by God. 5 For as we share abundantly in Christ’s sufferings, so through Christ we share abundantly in comfort too. 6 If we are afflicted, it is for your comfort and salvation; and if we are comforted, it is for your comfort, which you experience when you patiently endure the same sufferings that we suffer. 7 Our hope for you is unshaken, for we know that as you share in our sufferings, you will also share in our comfort.

Please pray that my whole family sees Jesus in the midst of this and that they would cling to Him. Please also pray I can talk with her and pray for her before she goes under. Thank you for being you and being involved in my life! Thanks for the prayers too! Please let me know how I can be praying for you….
