So I was going to post an entry about the emerging church and all of that, but it keeps getting pushed off. But I wanted to direct you to another blog that had a good entry and also some thoughts from one of favorite dudes, Michael Horton. Here is a quick quote he offers about postmodernism: (Read More)

Last night I went to the movies with my grandparents! I know what you might be thinking, “Man, what’s going on with Zach. Hanging out with his grandparents?†Don’t worry, I haven’t crawled into a shell since I’ve been back in the States. I’m still vacationing at my grandparent’s and we thought we would check out a movie last night. Plus I have ultra hip grandparents!
I have seen previews for The Brothers Grimm since I’ve been back and I just had to pay my 10 bucks to get in! I have to be honest real quick – 10 bucks for a movie? What is our world coming to? This is an injustice! I want to go back to Prague where I would pay about $4 at the most! I would gladly endure the sketchy previews and cheesy commercials before the film if I could pay $4! But alas, God has me here for the time being and if I want to see a movie I will give my kidney to view it! Or so it seems.
Anyway, to the movie!

Searching from aisle to aisle the young mother frantically looked for her child. He was no where to be found, at least by her that is. Half way across their local Wal-mart her son walked with wide eyes trying to find his way through the scary women’s section then the scary craft section. This pint sized explorer wasn’t set on this exploration by his own will; he happened to take a left, when he should have taken a right. His little palms began to drip with sweat, his breaths grew shorter and shorter. Panic and fear began to grip him as he looked for something that might be familiar. He was indeed lost.

Last night, while I was laying in the bed of my grandparent’s motorhome (Yes I willingly chose to sleep in their motorhome, which is like another bedroom anyway, that is parked next to their house while I’m vacationing here. I like it because I have my space and privacy, so no complaints.), well after midnight, I finished one of Relevant’s newest books, Flashbang, by Mark Steele. Overall, I enjoyed the book. It is of the genre of the “in” books within Christendom at the moment - the Faith Memoir. Well, I was away for the year and a half a phenomena hit that I’m still learning about - that being Blue Like Jazz. Which is indeed a faith memoir, at first I thought it would be pretty cool so I promptly ordered it, but in the midst of work and “work books” that I needed to read it got pushed further and further back.

Happy Monday! So my adjustment back to American culture continues. Very characteristic of myself I PUSHED THE ENVELOPE and ventured into the interesting environment of the State Fair with some friends from college. It was great to catch up with Mel, Melissa, Tanya, and Kristin after not seeing them for over 17 months. But I have to be honest that it was a very interesting day for me.
As we walked in, I saw rows and rows of food stands. I had to venture in. It was if they were calling, “Zach we’ve missed you. We are here for you come and delight in the grease and fattiness of all we are. We will comfort you!” I just had to respond and delight in some of this quintessential American food – corn dogs, funnel cakes, jumbo pretzels, and so many more artery clogging foods! My first foray of eating was a corn dog; I nearly had a spiritual experience with my first bite. The plumb juicy hot dog surrounded by deep fried goodness. Mmmmm, my mouth is watering even as I type the words. During my 17 months over seas I didn’t once think about corn dogs, but I certainly missed them!
