One of the great things about working for a great organization like Campus Crusade is that they have a ton of resources to help their staff members. Today I was doing some work on the Ministry Partner Development (a.k.a. support raising) website and a great quote fell into my lap!

shane & shane. no. HOPE.
Have you ever had the thought go through your mind, while you are in the midst of doing something God has called you to, “I’m crazy.†Well, most of my young walk with the Lord has been made up of this voice in my brain. I don’t want to muse about what that voice is, but what takes place as I’m doing these things and hearing this voice.
The latest undertaking I’ve dove into headlong, in attempt to follow Jesus, is raising support to come on staff with Athletes in Action for 6-8 years in hope of getting back to the Czech Republic and seeing a country of 89% atheist worship Jesus as Lord. In the past 3 months as I’ve been on the ‘support road’ I’ve thought often to myself that I’m crazy. This week has been one big thought of “I’M STINKING CRAZY.â€

events, programs and the Bandwagon

Last week I was blessed by my former boss, Curtis Riskey, the owner of Basic Books in Oshkosh, WI. Curtis is one of my favorite people! He seeks to resource and provide the means by which people can grow closer to the Lord by operating a Christian bookstore.
The great thing about Curtis is that he is aware of the crap that is coming out under the umbrella of Christian Consumerism. When I worked for Curtis I struggled mightily with stupid t-shirts that we sold (I’ll confess I even wore some, like the own that was the Volkswagen rip-off that said “Disciples Wanted” instead of “Drivers Wanted” and the VW logo was tweaked and turned into a cross), the scripture mints and the rest of the so-called “Jesus junk.”
